      • DEATH OF ONE MORE OLD SETTLER.
        Herman Lemke, resident of Township for 43 years, dies at home of illness due to Old age. Was born in Germany-Came to America when 17 years of age--was father of 12 children.
        Herman Lemke, resident of Long Prairie township for forty-three years, died at his home Thursday, June 17.
        He had reached the advanced age of eighty-three years, more than half which he had lived in Todd county. During his younger years he was one of the best known farmers in the township. He has served as a member of the township board and had also served as supervisor of the township. The funeral was held from the Lutheran Church in this village Monday and interment was in the cemetery of that church.
        Herman Fredrick Wilhelm Lemke was born in Germany, September 3, 1843. When 17 years of age he emigrated to America, locating first in Wisconsin, where he lived about ten years, and then moved to Iowa, where he resided ten years. In 1883 he came to Todd county and settled on the farm just north of Long Prairie village, where he had continue to reside. He built up a splendid farm, thereby doing his part in the development of our community. He was married in June 1863, while residing in Wisconsin. His wife died about seventeen years ago. His surviving children are: Mrs. Bertha Ellersick, of Spokane, Washington; Albert Lemke of Long Prairie; Mrs. Mary Hodel, of Albany, Minnesota; Henry Lemke and Mrs. Lizzie Ellersick who live in Idaho; Emil Lemke, of Long Prairie
